SPIN ART - Ghost Escaping A Super Nova
I was cleaning out some stuff in the garage and I found these old paintings I made years ago! I think it was on The Boardwalk in Santa Cruz about 1964. It probably cost about 50 cents to make one. They would spin these little boards as you squeezed paint onto them, and they usually came out pretty cool. I always wondered why I saved them all these years, and now I know why!

DANGIT! I COULDN'T KEEP IT TO MYSELF!!
I am standing up here tonight to testify to you that out of all the zillions of new things I learned about in 2011(Mostly because of blogs), I can't believe I never heard of Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers until just a couple of months ago! I'm older than sin, have collected records for years, listened to every record in my college radio station library, haunted swamp meets, garage sales, and thrift stores for years, and still have 4000+ LPs, 45's & CD's to get rid of before I die, but I never heard of Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers! These guys come off sounding like the best combination of James and Bobby Purify, The Rumblers, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Sam & Dave, and Sly and the Family Stone, and every cover they do, they make it their own! Here is just a minutely small example of what these cats could pack into two minutes! I almost had an aneurysm just trying to pick out one song! Go find a CD!!
Here's "Said I Weren't Gonna Tell Nobody" by the best band anybody never heard of, CLIFF BENNETT & THE REBEL ROUSERS!!!!!!

HE TRIED IT ALL!!
This is a postcard given to me by my good friend Bud Cockrell! Bud was an amazing talent, and I was shocked, but not surprised when I heard of his death this year! The world has a tendency to take talented people like Bud for granted, but out of billions, he was truly one of a kind! Here's a song from his one album with his wife at the time, the equally talented Pattie Santos, "I Tried It All". This is not a song, it's a true story! This song also features the talents of an even sadder story, the Jimi Hendrix of the bass, Jaco Pastorious on Rhythm guitar, the amazing Ernie Watts on Sax, and the sweetest of background vocals from The Sweet Inspirations!

GLEN ARMSTRONG and the Dirty Clergy Part II
Here's the rest of the awesome tracks from the Glen Armstrong release "Bring Me the Head of the Saxophone Player!"
Glen's cover of The Doors "The End" is worth the price of admission alone! Best use of a Casio ever!!!
"Falling"
"Are You a Boy Clone or a Girl Clone"
"SLEEP"
"FINGERS"
"Two Boptometrists"
"Lisa's Gone"
"Black Light"
"The Ocean"
"Paper Cup Blues"
"Lump of Heroin"
"Dig Those Crazy Sperms/Jump Street/The End"
"Owl Stretching Time"
I was going to stretch this out over a couple of weeks, but then I found this link where WFMU had posted ALL the tracks from Glen's second killer tape "under a van gogh sky" back in 2007, and the song links are still intact, so do yourself a favor and go download some of the best unheard classic rock of all time right here: Glen Armstrong - "under a van gogh sky"
Two hours later, now I remember why I don't do these kind of posts!

GLEN ARMSTRONG and the Dirty Clergy!
Glen Armstrong was one of the more fascinating musicians I never met! We exchanged a few tapes, and I was always blown away by the sheer talent of this guy! Here's the first two songs off the first cassette I ever got from him that was titled Glen Armstrong and the Dirty Clergy - "BRING ME THE HEAD OF THE SAXOPHONE PLAYER"
It's like an unholy cross between Reverend Tom Frost and Fred Lane! Here's:
"Very Strange Underwear" and "The Crawdad Song"
