One thing that hasn't changed, they still save service today. They save it for when they go to the bank! When I was a kid, my Dad had a gas station. For 23 cents a gallon, we had to wash windshields front and back, check the oil, and the water in the radiator, and if the customer wanted it, we'd check the pressure in all four tires!
i remember full-serve stations from when i was a kid but by the time i was old enough to drive they were all gone.
